Three teenagers aged 15 to 17 have been detained under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act after a 15‑year‑old girl reported being gang‑raped near Tithal beach.
A 15‑year‑old girl alleged that she was gang‑raped near Tithal beach on Sunday evening. Police arrested three boys, aged 15, 16 and 17, in connection with the crime. The girl had met one of the accused on Instagram and later went to meet him at the beach. After the assault, the accused left her in a secluded area before she informed her family.
The three teenagers were taken into custody under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. A medical examination of the victim confirmed the allegations of sexual assault. Authorities have initiated a formal investigation and are preparing the case for prosecution.
The incident has drawn attention to safety concerns along coastal areas, with local police urging residents to exercise caution. The case is currently under the jurisdiction of the Surat police department.
