Police in Mohali detained three individuals suspected of being part of an organized animal theft ring.
Mohali police announced the arrest of three suspects believed to be involved in a coordinated animal theft operation. The arrests were made during a raid at a residential area in the city, according to a statement released by the district police headquarters.
The investigation, which began after a series of reported livestock thefts in nearby villages, linked the three individuals to a larger network that targets cattle, goats and other domestic animals for illegal sale.
Authorities said the suspects were taken into custody for further questioning and will face charges under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. The police have not disclosed the names of the arrested persons pending formal filing of the charge sheet.
