Three Kanwariyas Drown While Bathing in Ganga, Uttarakhand

Three women, known as kanwariyas, lost their lives in the Ganga after attempting a holy bath near a temple in Uttarakhand. The drownings occurred on consecutive days, raising concerns about the safety of the river during religious rituals.

The incidents took place in the vicinity of a popular pilgrimage site where devotees often perform ablutions. Local authorities reported that the water level had risen unexpectedly, contributing to the accidents.

Rescue teams from the Uttarakhand Police and the State Disaster Management Authority responded quickly, but the swift currents prevented any survivors from being found. The bodies were recovered by the riverbank teams.

Officials have urged caution for devotees and are reviewing safety measures at the bathing spots to prevent future tragedies.
