A domestic quarrel on Diwali in Rajasthan ended tragically when a husband and wife ran onto railway tracks, causing three fatalities.
On the festive night of Diwali, police in Rajasthan responded to a distress call reporting a domestic dispute that escalated near a railway line. According to officials, the husband and wife involved in the argument ran towards the tracks in an apparent attempt to escape the confrontation.
Railway officials confirmed that the couple entered the active line and were struck by an oncoming train. The impact resulted in the deaths of both the husband and wife, and a third victim – identified as a passerby who was also on the tracks at the time – also succumbed to injuries.
Local police have opened an investigation into the circumstances that led the couple to flee onto the railway, treating the incident as a homicide inquiry pending further forensic evidence. The incident has sparked concerns about safety measures near railway zones during large public gatherings such as Diwali.
Authorities have urged citizens to avoid crowded or hazardous areas near railway tracks, especially during festivals, and to seek immediate police assistance in domestic disputes rather than resorting to dangerous actions.
