A plaster slab from the roof of a government primary school in Narada village, Udaipur, fell during class, injuring three pupils while about 32 students were present.
A plaster slab detached from the roof of the Rajkiya Prathmik Vidyalaya in Narada, a village in the Bhinder block of Udaipur district, and fell onto a classroom during a regular lesson. At the time of the incident, roughly thirty‑two children were inside the room.
The falling material struck three students, causing injuries that required medical attention. The injured pupils were promptly taken to a nearby health centre for treatment, while the remaining children were evacuated from the classroom.
Local authorities arrived at the scene, secured the area and ordered the school building to be locked pending a safety inspection. Officials from the district education department have been asked to assess the structural condition of the school and to determine whether the premises can be reopened.
The incident has raised concerns about the maintenance of older government school buildings in rural Rajasthan, prompting calls for a broader audit of infrastructure to prevent similar accidents.
