Three members of an interstate cyber gang were arrested in Madhya Pradesh after police traced mobile thefts in MP and UP and account frauds originating from West Bengal. Four stolen mobiles and cash were seized.
Three suspects linked to an interstate cyber gang were taken into custody by Madhya Pradesh police on Thursday. The arrests followed a probe that uncovered a pattern of mobile thefts across MP and Uttar Pradesh, coupled with fraudulent account withdrawals traced back to West Bengal.
Investigators say the gang targeted mobile phones in crowded markets, then used the stolen devices to access bank accounts and drain funds. The operation culminated in the seizure of four stolen mobiles and a sum of cash.
The arrested men face charges under the Information Technology Act and the Indian Penal Code for cyber fraud and theft. They are currently remanded to police custody pending further inquiry.
