Police in Amritsar detained three suspects, among them a husband‑wife duo alleged to have ties to Pakistan’s ISI, and recovered two assault rifles and ten kilograms of heroin.
Authorities in Amritsar, Punjab, announced that three individuals were taken into custody in a crackdown on narcotics and illegal arms. The operation led to the arrest of a husband‑wife pair that investigators say have connections to Pakistan’s Inter‑Services Intelligence agency, along with another suspect.
During the same raid, police recovered two automatic rifles, identified as an AK‑47 and an AK‑56, indicating a potential link to organised crime networks dealing in weapons.
In addition to the firearms, investigators seized ten kilograms of heroin, a substantial quantity that underscores the scale of the drug trafficking operation in the region.
A police spokesperson stated that the seized items will be handed over to the forensic laboratory for verification, and that further interrogations are underway to uncover the broader network behind the smuggling activities.
