Thousands crowd Govinddevji Temple in Jaipur for Janmashtami celebrations

On Janmashtami, the Govinddevji Temple in Jaipur saw a queue stretching about 1.5 km as devotees gathered for the midnight birth‑celebration, with other major temples also packed.
Jaipur’s Govinddevji Temple became the focal point of Janmashtami observances on Tuesday, drawing a massive crowd of devotees eager to partake in the traditional festivities. The temple, one of the city’s most revered shrines dedicated to Lord Krishna, opened its doors early to accommodate the influx of worshippers.
Organisers reported that a line extending roughly one and a half kilometres formed outside the temple premises, with many pilgrims waiting through the night. The main celebration is scheduled for midnight, marking the believed time of Lord Krishna’s birth, and includes special aarti, devotional singing, and the distribution of prasad.
Other prominent temples across Jaipur, such as the Birla Mandir and the Govind Dev Ji Temple in the old city, also experienced unusually high attendance, reflecting the city’s deep cultural reverence for the festival.
