A resident widow in the village of Budhar, located in Shahdol district of Madhya Pradesh, reported that thieves broke into her home and stole cash and silver ornaments that had been set aside for her daughter's upcoming wedding. The total value of the stolen items was reported to be around ₹80,000.
Local police launched an immediate investigation and, within a few hours, identified a suspect. The accused, 18‑year‑old Sunil Singh Gond, a resident of Alwar in the nearby Anupur area, was apprehended by officers from the Shahdol police station.
During the arrest, investigators recovered ₹61,000 in cash and jewellery estimated to be worth roughly ₹80,000, often referred to locally as a "mashruka". The swift recovery was highlighted by the police as a demonstration of their rapid response capability in rural crime cases.
