Thief Poses as Ganesh Idol Buyer, Steals ₹7.2 Lakh Jewels from Churu Shop

A man pretending to order a Ganesh statue duped a jeweler in Churu, Rajasthan, and walked away with jewellery worth about ₹7.2 million.
Police in Churu, Rajasthan, disclosed that a thief entered a local jewellery shop under the pretext of commissioning a Ganesh idol. He engaged the shopkeeper in conversation, creating a distraction while he pocketed jewellery valued at roughly ₹7.2 million.
The suspect handed the shopkeeper an advance of ₹500, claiming he would return later that evening to collect the idol. He then left the premises, never coming back for the statue.
CCTV footage captured the entire episode, showing the perpetrator moving confidently through the shop and slipping the items into a bag before exiting. The shop owner reported the loss immediately, prompting a police investigation.
Authorities are reviewing the video to identify the individual and have appealed to the public for any information that could lead to his arrest.
