Former minister Shashi Tharoor has identified the bilateral ties with Sri Lanka and Bangladesh as the foremost foreign policy concerns for India, according to a statement reported by Asianet Newsable.

Shashi Tharoor, the former Minister of State for External Affairs, highlighted the importance of India’s relations with Sri Lanka and Bangladesh as the top foreign policy issues in a recent interview with Asianet Newsable. He emphasized that both bilateral ties are critical for India’s strategic interests in the Indian Ocean region. The Sri Lanka partnership involves trade, maritime security and counter‑terrorism cooperation, while the Bangladesh relationship focuses on economic corridors, border management and regional connectivity.
