Thane’s Teen Hath Naka junction, often cited as one of Asia’s busiest traffic nodes, has long struggled with congestion and delays. The city’s traffic woes have prompted the Maharashtra government to intervene with a targeted infrastructure upgrade.
On Tuesday, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde unveiled a Rs 200‑crore project that will convert four of the junction’s seven major traffic movements into signal‑free lanes. The initiative, named the Teen Hath Naka Traffic Improvement Project, will involve road widening, new lane markings, and upgraded traffic management systems.
Officials say the project will reduce travel time, lower fuel consumption, and ease traffic snarls for commuters. The work is slated to be finished within 18 months, after which the junction should see a smoother flow of vehicles.
