The Weather Department reported that in mid‑October, maximum temperatures climbed about 2 °C above normal in Mangalore, Udupi and Shivamogga, with dry conditions persisting.

The Weather Department announced that during the middle of October, maximum temperatures in Karnataka's coastal districts of Mangalore and Udupi, as well as the hilly district of Shivamogga, rose approximately two degrees Celsius above the usual forecasted values.

The rise was recorded across both the coastal belt and the Malenadu region, indicating a simultaneous heat increase in geographically distinct parts of the state.

Alongside the temperature surge, the department noted that the dry spell continues unabated, raising concerns for agriculture and water resources in the affected areas.
