Bihar Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav has demanded the termination of two independent members of the Legislative Council after they joined the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Bihar Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav has requested the state assembly to terminate the memberships of two independent members of the Legislative Council (MLCs) after they joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The move follows the public announcement by the two MLCs, whose names were not disclosed, that they had switched allegiance to the BJP, a rival of the Rashtriya Janata Dal.
Yadav said that the switch violated the spirit of their independent status and could undermine the integrity of the council.
The state government will review the request and decide whether to remove the two members from the council.
