Chennai police have taken a technology firm chief into custody after a Rs 3 crore demand was tied to the suicide of local YouTuber Harish.
Police in Chennai arrested the chief executive of a technology company following a demand for Rs 3 crore that investigators say was linked to the suicide of a local YouTuber named Harish. The arrest was made after officials received a complaint alleging that the CEO had pressed the large monetary demand on the YouTuber, which preceded the latter's death.
According to the police, the investigation uncovered communications suggesting the demand was made shortly before Harish was found dead, prompting a criminal probe into possible extortion and harassment. The CEO has been remanded in custody while further inquiries are conducted.
Harish, who was known for his YouTube content in Chennai, was reported dead in what authorities have classified as a suicide. The exact circumstances surrounding his death remain under examination, but the Rs 3 crore demand is now a focal point of the case.
The Chennai Metropolitan Police have not disclosed additional details about the charges or the identity of the tech firm, stating that updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
