After a 56‑day sit‑in demanding more Class‑2 and Class‑3 teaching posts, candidates were stopped by police at Roshanpura, citing a former chief minister's letter but receiving no government decision yet.
Bhop’s police intervened on Thursday at Roshanpura, halting a group of teacher recruitment candidates who have been on a 56‑day protest. The demonstrators are demanding an increase in the number of vacancies for Class‑2 and Class‑3 teaching positions in the state.
The candidates referenced a letter from former chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, arguing that the government had previously pledged support for their demand. Despite invoking the former CM's endorsement, officials said no final decision on the post augmentation has been taken.
Police officials confirmed that the blockade was carried out to maintain public order and prevent any escalation. The protestors, many of whom are awaiting selection for upcoming teacher exams, vowed to continue their agitation until their demands are addressed.
The standoff underscores ongoing tensions between the state education department and aspirants seeking greater employment opportunities in the teaching sector.
