Tamil Nadu to Fully Fund College Fees for Muslim Women under Reservation

The state government of Tamil Nadu has introduced a new scheme that will pay 100 percent of college tuition fees for Muslim women who qualify under the existing reservation quota. The announcement was made by the Department of Higher Education as part of its effort to improve access to higher education for minority communities. Under the scheme, eligible students will receive full fee reimbursement for courses offered by government‑aided and private colleges that are recognised by the state. The policy aims to address the financial barriers that have traditionally limited higher‑education enrollment among Muslim women. The move aligns with Tamil Nadu’s broader affirmative‑action framework, which reserves seats for socially and educationally backward classes, as well as minorities, in public institutions.
