The Tamil Nadu unit of the BJP has sharply criticised state ministers for allowing a Muslim aide wearing a skull cap to enter a Hindu temple, calling the move a breach of tradition.
The Bharatiya Janata Party’s Tamil Nadu wing publicly rebuked state ministers after a Muslim aide, identifiable by a skull cap, was permitted to step inside a Hindu temple. Party leaders said the decision flouted long‑standing customs and could inflame communal sensitivities.
According to reports, the aide was part of a delegation that visited the temple for a routine function. BJP officials argued that allowing a person in religious attire associated with another faith to enter the sanctum set a concerning precedent.
The party has called for a review of the incident and urged the government to ensure that temple entry protocols respect traditional norms. No official response from the ministers has been recorded at the time of reporting.
