The Tamil Nadu government has sanctioned six new nursing colleges and will increase the number of seats in allied healthcare programmes across the state.
The state government of Tamil Nadu announced the establishment of six additional nursing colleges as part of its effort to strengthen the healthcare education infrastructure. The decision, disclosed by the health department, also includes a rise in the intake capacity for allied health courses such as physiotherapy, medical laboratory technology and radiography.
These measures aim to address the growing demand for qualified nursing and allied health professionals in both public and private sectors. Officials expect the new institutions to generate more employment opportunities and improve the quality of patient care throughout the region.
Implementation will be overseen by the Tamil Nadu Directorate of Medical Education, with the first colleges expected to commence operations within the next two academic years, subject to regulatory clearances and faculty recruitment.
