The SVPNPA Director told Telangana Today that coordinated social media campaigns are creating fresh difficulties for police operations in the state.

The director of the State Vigilance and Police (SVPNPA) told Telangana Today that the surge in organized social media campaigns is presenting a novel set of challenges for law‑enforcement agencies across the state. He highlighted that these online movements can rapidly mobilise large groups, spread unverified information and exert pressure on police actions, complicating efforts to maintain public order and conduct investigations.

According to the director, the speed and reach of digital platforms mean that misinformation can spread faster than traditional channels, forcing police to allocate resources to monitor and counter online narratives. He stressed that without adequate digital‑monitoring capabilities, authorities risk being outpaced by coordinated online activity that can incite unrest or hinder investigative work.

To address the issue, the SVPNPA chief urged police departments to develop specialised cyber‑units, enhance cooperation with social media companies, and adopt real‑time analytics tools. While emphasizing the need for robust response mechanisms, he also called for respect of constitutional freedoms, ensuring that any intervention balances security concerns with citizens' right to expression.
