The Tamil film starring Suriya collected more than ₹27 crore on its first day, yet it did not exceed the opening day haul of the film ‘Karuppu’.

Suriya’s latest Tamil venture, ‘Vishwanath and Sons’, opened on 26th August to a strong response, pulling in over ₹27 crore in its first day of release. Despite the robust opening, the film fell short of the opening day record set by the film ‘Karuppu’, which earned a higher figure. The new film, starring Suriya in a dual role, was released across more than 1,200 screens nationwide. Industry analysts suggest that while the opening day haul is respectable, the film will need sustained audience interest to challenge the higher benchmark set by ‘Karuppu’.
