Surat Civil Hospital has issued a notice that results of microbiology and pathology tests will be sent directly to patients, eliminating the practice of standing in line for hours to collect reports. The move aims to streamline the delivery of diagnostic information and improve patient convenience.
Until now, patients had to visit the hospital’s pathology department in person, often waiting for extended periods due to high demand. By mailing or digitally transmitting reports, the hospital expects to reduce foot traffic and free up staff for other critical duties.
Hospital officials said the new system will be operational from next week, with reports dispatched via courier or made available on the hospital’s online portal. They added that the change aligns with broader efforts to modernise healthcare services in Gujarat.
