The Supreme Court’s recent ruling has been interpreted by the YSR Congress Party as evidence that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu failed to protect the backward‑class reservation quota.

The Supreme Court delivered a judgment concerning the implementation of the backward‑class (BC) reservation quota in Andhra Pradesh, finding that the state had not taken sufficient steps to protect the quota.

The YSR Congress Party, which now governs the state, has framed the decision as proof that former chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu neglected his duty to safeguard the reservation. Party officials said the ruling exposes a pattern of administrative lapses during Naidu’s tenure.

Naidu, who served as chief minister from 2014 to 2019, has not issued a public response to the criticism. Legal analysts note that the verdict may trigger a review of reservation policies and could lead to further litigation or policy adjustments.

Opposition leaders are leveraging the judgment ahead of the next state elections, adding a political dimension to a primarily legal outcome, while the court’s order remains focused on ensuring compliance with constitutional reservation mandates.
