Three judges are slated to join the Supreme Court today, but the bench will still be one judge short of its full complement.
Three judges are expected to be sworn in at the Supreme Court of India today, raising the number of sitting judges to 30 out of the authorized 31.
The appointments follow a period of delays in filling vacancies, and one seat will remain unfilled until the selection process is completed.
Their addition should help ease the court's heavy docket, although the remaining vacancy may still affect the formation of constitutional benches that require a full quorum.
The collegium had earlier recommended the names and the President is set to issue the formal warrants of appointment today, legal analysts say the court can function with a single vacancy but certain decisions may face quorum challenges.
