The Supreme Court has ordered a stay on the FIR lodged against gym owner Mohammed Deepak of Uttarakhand, related to a dispute involving the Bajrang Dal.

The apex court intervened on Tuesday, granting a stay on the first information report (FIR) filed against Mohammed Deepak, who runs a gym in Uttarakhand. The FIR stemmed from a controversy involving the right‑wing Bajrang Dal, which had raised allegations against the gym owner.

The court’s order temporarily halts any further investigation or legal proceedings until the matter is heard in detail. The bench noted that the petitioner had raised concerns about procedural lapses in the FIR’s registration.

Legal experts said the stay does not equate to an acquittal but provides the accused a respite while the substantive issues are examined. The case remains under the jurisdiction of the Uttarakhand police, pending further judicial scrutiny.

The decision comes amid heightened sensitivities surrounding communal and political disputes in the state, with the Bajrang Dal often at the centre of such controversies.

Authorities have been instructed to maintain the status quo and refrain from any action that could prejudice the pending hearing.
