Supreme Court Orders Jaipur Chief Secretary, DGP to Appear Over Illegal Coaching Centers

The Supreme Court, hearing a petition concerning illegal coaching centres operating in residential neighbourhoods of Jaipur, has asked the court to be updated on the police response. A senior advocate who filed the petition alleged that law‑enforcement agencies have been lax, prompting the apex court to intervene.

In its order, the bench directed the Rajasthan police to submit a detailed report on the steps taken so far to shut down the unauthorised coaching establishments and to identify any officials responsible for the alleged inaction.

Further, the court summoned the state’s chief secretary and the Director General of Police to appear in person, signalling a stern approach to ensure compliance and to deter future violations.

The directive underscores the judiciary’s growing concern over the proliferation of unregulated coaching centres that disrupt residential peace and operate without requisite permissions, and it may lead to stricter enforcement across the state.
