The Supreme Court refused to entertain a petition seeking to stay the election result that saw Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel win the Patan assembly seat in Chhattisgarh.
The apex court on Monday turned down a petition that asked it to intervene in the election dispute concerning the Patan constituency of Chhattisgarh. The petition sought a stay on the declaration of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel's victory, alleging procedural irregularities during the counting process.
The bench, after reviewing the pleadings, held that there was no ground for the Court to interfere with the electoral outcome at this stage. It noted that the matter was already before the appropriate election tribunal, which is empowered to examine such challenges.
