In Bhopal, sugar prices have risen above ₹70 per kilogram while onions are trading around ₹50 per kilogram as festival demand spikes.

Bhopal's retail markets are witnessing a sharp price surge in two essential commodities ahead of the upcoming festive season. Sugar has breached the ₹70 per kilogram mark, a level not seen in recent months, according to local traders.

Onions, another staple, are currently being sold at roughly ₹50 per kilogram. Vendors attribute the rise to a mismatch between demand and supply, noting that the festive rush has intensified buying pressure.

Market sellers warn that if the imbalance persists, onion prices could climb further, potentially reaching ₹70 to ₹80 per kilogram. The price escalation adds to broader inflation concerns as households prepare for celebrations.

Authorities have not yet issued any intervention, leaving consumers to bear the higher costs during the holiday period.
