A five‑hour disturbance erupted at Gundrai High School in Sanchi, Raisen, after students accused a teacher of demanding a fee without a receipt; the SDM arrived and highlighted several shortcomings in the school.

Earlier this week, a heated clash broke out at Gundrai High School in Sanchi, Raisen district, when students confronted a teacher they said was demanding a fee of three thousand rupees without providing a receipt. The allegation sparked immediate anger among the pupils, who gathered in the school premises and blocked entry and exit points.

The protest lasted for about five hours, during which classes were suspended and the campus turned chaotic. Students demanded that the teacher be held accountable and that the school administration address the alleged financial irregularity.

Sub‑Divisional Magistrate (SDM) officials arrived at the scene to restore order. While dispersing the crowd, the SDM noted several infrastructural and administrative lapses in the school, including inadequate record‑keeping and insufficient supervision of staff.

Authorities have said a formal inquiry will be launched to verify the fee‑demand claim and to examine the broader issues raised about the school's management. The SDM has directed the education department to take corrective action where needed.
