On Tuesday, students protesting alleged exam result irregularities at Bihar Health Science University in Patna clashed with police, leaving a senior police officer and three constables injured.
Students gathered outside Bihar Health Science University (BUHS) in Patna on Tuesday, demanding clarification over suspected discrepancies in recent examination results. The protest, initially peaceful, intensified after university officials failed to address the concerns raised by the candidates.
Police units were deployed to control the crowd, and a confrontation erupted when demonstrators attempted to breach the campus perimeter. In the ensuing scuffle, a senior police officer (SHO) and three constables sustained injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Police spokesperson said the force was compelled to use necessary measures to restore order and that a detailed inquiry will be launched to identify those responsible for the violence. The university administration has announced that it will review the examination process and issue a statement shortly.
The area around the university was cordoned off, and traffic on adjacent roads was temporarily diverted. Local authorities have appealed for calm and urged students to pursue their grievances through legal channels.
