Student Election Dispute at Nimapara College Blocks Bhubaneswar‑Konark Highway

Nimapara College in Odisha became the centre of a student‑led protest after a dispute over the college’s internal elections. Demonstrators gathered on the campus and extended their blockade to the adjoining Bhubaneswar‑Konark highway, a key arterial route linking the state capital with the historic town of Konark.

The road blockage caused significant delays for commuters and transport vehicles traveling between Bhubaneswar and the coastal region. Local authorities were alerted to the disruption and deployed police personnel to manage the crowd and restore traffic flow.

Officials have urged the students to resolve the election issue through dialogue and have warned that continued obstruction could invite legal action. The situation remains under close monitoring as traffic resumes gradually.
