Stubble‑Burning Fires Down 31% Across Six States as Delhi Prepares for Winter

Across six Indian states, stubble‑burning fires have dropped by 31% compared to the previous year, according to recent reports. The decline comes as authorities intensify enforcement and promote alternative practices to curb the seasonal pollution spike. Delhi, which typically experiences severe air quality deterioration during winter, is closely monitoring the trend as part of its broader winter‑time pollution mitigation strategy. The reduction in stubble fires is seen as a positive step toward meeting the city’s air quality targets for the upcoming months.
