Stray Truck on Moga Bypass Found Carrying 16 Cows, Two Die of Dehydration

A driverless truck parked on the Moga‑Bughipur bypass was discovered with about 16‑17 cattle inside, two of which had died from lack of food and water.
Police officials in Punjab’s Moga district responded to a report of an unmanned truck stalled on the Bughipur bypass. Upon inspection, officers found the vehicle loaded with roughly sixteen to seventeen cows, most of which appeared weak.
Two of the cattle were found dead, the cause attributed to prolonged deprivation of food and water while the truck remained stationary for at least two days. Veterinarians on site confirmed that dehydration and starvation were the likely reasons for the fatalities.
Authorities have opened an inquiry to determine how the livestock ended up in a driverless vehicle and to identify any negligence or violation of animal‑transport regulations. The remaining animals are being taken to a nearby dairy farm for care and further observation.
