Storyteller abducts and rapes girl who visited for narrative, holds her for three months

A local storyteller, referred to as a Kathavachak, is accused of abducting a young woman who had traveled to hear his narrative. The victim reportedly arrived with the intention of attending a storytelling session, but instead was taken against her will.

According to the police complaint, the Kathavachak kept the girl confined for a period of three months. During this time, she was subjected to repeated sexual assault, culminating in a rape charge against the accused.

Investigators also noted the presence of a dholak player who was allegedly present during the confinement, though his exact role remains under inquiry. The authorities have opened a criminal case and are seeking further evidence to substantiate the allegations.

Law enforcement officials have urged any witnesses to come forward and have assured that the case will be pursued rigorously under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
