The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) released a weather alert for eleven districts of Rajasthan, signalling the possibility of strong thunderstorms and heavy rain over the next 48 hours. The advisory covers a broad swath of the state, urging local authorities to monitor the situation closely and activate emergency response teams where needed.
In the western desert city of Jaisalmer, the forecast shows an extreme temperature rise, with maximum readings expected to touch 41°C. The combination of soaring heat and impending storms creates a challenging environment for residents and travelers alike.
Officials have advised the public to avoid non‑essential travel during the peak of the storm, stay hydrated, and seek shelter in sturdy structures. Agricultural workers and outdoor laborers are specifically cautioned to take breaks in shaded areas and to keep an eye on sudden weather changes.
The IMD will continue to update the bulletin as conditions evolve, and local disaster management agencies are on standby to provide assistance if the situation deteriorates.
