Several passengers on the Nagpur‑Mumbai Duronto were hurt after stones were thrown at the train near Nagpur, police said.
A stone‑pelting incident near Nagpur caused injuries to passengers travelling on the Nagpur‑Mumbai Duronto Express, officials reported. Eyewitnesses said a group of unidentified individuals hurled stones at the moving train as it approached the outskirts of the city, striking the carriage windows and injuring a handful of commuters.
The railway police have registered a case of vandalism and are conducting a probe to identify the perpetrators. Injured passengers were taken to a nearby hospital where they received treatment for minor cuts and bruises. No fatalities have been reported.
Authorities have urged the public to cooperate with the investigation and have warned that such acts of sabotage endanger lives and disrupt rail services. Security measures, including increased patrols and CCTV monitoring, are being intensified along the route to prevent a recurrence.
