The state election commissioner has clarified that security measures during elections are limited to nomination centres and do not extend to candidates' residences.

The state election commissioner issued a statement to Tripuratimes, clarifying that security provisions during elections are confined to nomination centres and official polling venues. He emphasized that there is no mandate for security at the private residences of candidates.

According to the commissioner, the Election Commission’s guidelines cover security at nomination centres, polling stations, and other official locations, but they do not extend to candidates’ doorsteps. The statement was made amid concerns about the safety of political contenders.

The commissioner also noted that local police will oversee security at polling stations, ensuring a safe voting environment. He reiterated that the Election Commission’s directives do not require additional security measures at private homes.

This clarification aims to address misconceptions about the scope of election security and to reaffirm that the focus remains on official venues rather than individual residences.
