A 35‑year‑old soldier of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), identified as Sandeep Kharvate, was found dead after he shot himself with his service rifle while on duty at the Central Supply Depot (CSD) in the Kamla Nagar police‑station area of Bhopal. The incident was reported by local authorities on the day it occurred.
According to the preliminary report, the soldier used his issued rifle to inflict a fatal wound on himself. A suicide note recovered at the scene contained an apology addressed to his wife, indicating personal distress as the possible motive.
Bhopal police, in coordination with SSB officials, have opened a case of suicide and are conducting a standard investigation to rule out any external involvement. The authorities have assured the public that the matter is being handled in accordance with legal procedures.
