Director SS Rajamouli discussed how the ancient city of Varanasi is portrayed across multiple realms and time periods in the upcoming Mahesh Babu-Priyanka Chopra Jonas film, outlining the film's adventure framework.
SS Rajamouli spoke at a recent press event about the depiction of Varanasi in the forthcoming Mahesh Babu‑Priyanka Chopra Jonas film. He explained that the city’s narrative will span several worlds and time zones, drawing on its rich mythological heritage.
According to Rajamouli, Varanasi will serve as a bridge between the past, present and future, allowing the story to weave through different eras while maintaining the city’s spiritual essence. The director emphasized that this approach will give the film a layered, almost cinematic mythology.
The adventure scheme of the film, as outlined by Rajamouli, follows Mahesh Babu’s character on a quest that takes him through these varied realms, with Priyanka Chopra Jonas playing a pivotal role in guiding the journey. The plot is designed to blend action, mythology and emotional depth.
Industry observers note that Rajamouli’s vision could set a new benchmark for Indian fantasy‑drama, especially with a star‑studded cast and a city as iconic as Varanasi at its core.
