A new special train service connecting Amritsar in Punjab with Hazur Sahib Nanded in Maharashtra has been announced, aiming to facilitate pilgrimages and regional travel.
The railway authorities have approved a dedicated special train that will operate between Amritsar, a major city in Punjab, and Hazur Sahib Nanded, a revered Sikh pilgrimage centre in Maharashtra. The service is expected to run on a regular schedule, providing a direct rail link for devotees and travelers who previously had to rely on multiple connections.
Officials said the train will depart from Amritsar Junction and terminate at Hazur Sahib Nanded station, covering the distance of roughly 1,800 kilometres. Seating and sleeper classes will be made available, along with provisions for pilgrims such as onboard prayer facilities.
The introduction of this service is part of a broader effort to boost religious tourism and improve connectivity between northern and southern regions of India. Railway officials anticipate strong demand during major Sikh festivals, and the timetable will be adjusted accordingly.
Ticket bookings are slated to open next week through the IRCTC portal and at designated railway counters. Passengers are advised to check the official schedule for exact departure times and fare details.
