The southwest monsoon has begun to withdraw from Jharkhand, marking the transition to the post‑monsoon period, meteorological agencies reported.

The India Meteorological Department confirmed that the southwest monsoon is now pulling back from Jharkhand, ending the peak rainy spell that has lasted for several weeks. Rainfall intensity has decreased across the state, and cloud cover is gradually thinning as the system moves northward.

Meteorologists noted that the withdrawal will bring a modest rise in daytime temperatures and a drop in relative humidity, especially in the plateau regions. While the immediate impact on daily life is expected to be limited, farmers are closely watching the change as it coincides with the critical sowing window for kharif crops.

The forecast for the coming days suggests occasional isolated showers in the eastern districts, but overall the weather will remain dry and sunny. Authorities have urged residents to stay prepared for sudden localised thunderstorms that can occur during the transition phase.

The IMD will continue to monitor the monsoon's retreat and issue updates on any significant weather variations that could affect water reservoirs and agricultural activities in Jharkhand.
