Southern States Form Front Over Delimitation, Language and Tax Issues

Several southern states have come together to present a united stance on three key issues that are shaping the political and economic discourse ahead of the next electoral cycle. The front, described as a coordinated effort to safeguard regional interests, was unveiled in a meeting of senior officials from the participating states.\n\nThe coalition’s primary focus is the pending delimitation exercise, which will redraw constituency boundaries based on the forthcoming census data. Lawmakers from the South argue that the exercise could disproportionately affect their representation if not handled with due regard to demographic realities.\n\nAnother pillar of the front’s agenda is the protection of regional languages. Leaders expressed apprehension that recent policy proposals could undermine the status of languages such as Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam in education and administration.\n\nThe third concern centers on tax reforms, particularly the impact of recent changes to the Goods and Services Tax structure on state revenues.
