South Korea will invest $200 billion in U.S. energy infrastructure, including a $54 billion liquefied natural gas project in Alaska, as announced by President Trump.

President Donald Trump announced that South Korea has committed a $200 billion investment package for energy projects across the United States. The deal earmarks $54 billion specifically for a liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility in Alaska, marking the largest single foreign infusion into the state's energy sector.

In addition to the Alaskan LNG venture, the investment plan includes a gas‑fired power plant in Texas and funding for eight nuclear reactors slated for construction nationwide. These projects are intended to expand the U.S. clean‑energy capacity and deepen bilateral economic ties.

The $200 billion commitment stems from a broader $350 billion trade agreement signed between the two countries in November 2025. The agreement aims to boost trade, technology sharing, and strategic cooperation, with the energy sector identified as a priority.

Analysts view the South Korean investment as a signal of confidence in the U.S. energy market and a step toward diversifying global energy supply chains amid shifting geopolitical dynamics.
