Lawyers in South Goa staged a protest demanding swift action against delays and alleged corruption in the district’s revenue offices.
A group of lawyers representing South Goa’s bar association gathered outside the district revenue office on Monday, staging a peaceful protest to highlight long‑standing delays in processing land and tax documents. The advocates allege that bureaucratic inertia and corrupt practices have hampered routine services, forcing citizens to incur extra costs and legal hassles.
During the demonstration, the lawyers presented a list of grievances, including prolonged waiting periods for mutation certificates, irregular fee demands, and lack of transparency in revenue assessments. They urged the revenue department to initiate an independent audit, enforce stricter accountability, and streamline procedures to restore public confidence.
Officials from the revenue office declined to comment immediately, but a senior officer indicated that the department is reviewing the complaints and will take corrective steps in line with state directives.
