Police say Shivshankar, inspired by the film ‘Dhrishy’, killed his father Raghubir Sahni in Samastipur after traveling from Surat, and his call to his wife led to his arrest.

Samastipur district police have uncovered the murder of farmer Raghubir Sahni, whose death was staged by his own son, Shivshankar. Investigators say the son, motivated after watching the movie ‘Dhrishy’, drove from Surat in Gujarat to Samastipur, covering roughly 2,000 kilometres, to carry out the killing.

The crime came to light after Shivshankar kept his mobile phone switched off for 36 hours. When he finally placed a call to his wife, the conversation was traced by investigators and became a pivotal clue that led to his apprehension.

Authorities have confirmed that the motive was personal, and the case is being treated as a premeditated homicide. The investigation remains ongoing, with further details expected as forensic and witness statements are examined.

The incident underscores the rare but serious nature of intra‑family violence in rural Bihar, prompting local officials to call for heightened community awareness and swift legal action against such crimes.
