Municipal enforcement teams under SMC conducted raids on several hookah lounges in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, confiscating 94 hookah units and related paraphernalia.
The municipal enforcement wing of SMC carried out coordinated raids on multiple hookah establishments across Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar on Tuesday. Officers entered the premises, inspected licences and seized a total of 94 hookah devices along with related accessories.
According to the raid report, the outlets were operating without the required municipal clearances and were found to be in violation of health and safety regulations governing public smoking venues. The seized items are expected to be destroyed or retained as evidence in pending legal proceedings.
Local authorities said the operation is part of an ongoing crackdown aimed at curbing unlicensed hookah lounges that may pose health risks and evade tax obligations. Further action will be taken against owners found to be non‑compliant with the city’s regulatory framework.
