Heavy flooding in Diara, Patna, caused a solid house to collapse, trapping six people who were later rescued and are now receiving medical care.
Heavy rains have swollen the Ganges and its tributaries, inundating the Diara area of Maner in Patna district. The rising waters turned streets into streams and forced residents onto higher ground.
Amid the floodwaters, a sturdy residential building gave way and collapsed completely, burying six occupants under the debris. The sudden failure caught the occupants off guard, leaving them trapped inside the wreckage.
Local villagers, hearing the cries, rushed to the site and worked tirelessly to lift the rubble. Their concerted effort succeeded in freeing all six individuals, who were immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries and exposure.
The incident underscores the growing vulnerability of low‑lying settlements in Bihar to flash floods, prompting calls for faster relief measures and better flood‑plain management.
