Bihar police in Mahalgawan, Araria, nabbed six suspects accused of exploiting Aadhaar numbers and fingerprint data for cyber scams, confiscating mobiles, laptops, a fingerprint scanner and a car.
During a police operation in the Mahalgawan locality of Araria district, Bihar, law‑enforcement officials detained six individuals alleged to be part of a cyber‑fraud ring that misused Aadhaar identification numbers and fingerprint data. The raid was carried out after intelligence inputs linked the suspects to a series of online scams targeting bank accounts and digital wallets.
According to the investigation, the accused employed counterfeit Aadhaar details and forged fingerprint scans to bypass authentication mechanisms of financial services. By presenting these fabricated credentials, they were able to gain unauthorized access to victims' accounts and siphon funds.
The team recovered a cache of electronic devices from the premises, including several mobile phones, laptops, a fingerprint‑scanning device, and a motor vehicle believed to have been used for transporting the equipment. All seized items are now in police custody for forensic analysis.
