Sirohi orders fuel reserves, weapon surrender before 2026 local elections

The Rajasthan administration has ordered petrol pumps in Sirohi to keep 1,000 litres of petrol and 2,000 litres of diesel in reserve and to collect licensed firearms from owners before the 2026 municipal and panchayat elections.

Officials say the measure is intended to avoid fuel shortages or price volatility that could affect voters and election staff during the campaign period.
In parallel, the police have been instructed to collect all legally owned firearms from their holders before the election date. Licensed gun owners are required to surrender their weapons to the nearest police station, a step the authorities believe will reduce the risk of violence and ensure a peaceful voting environment.
