Silver Crown Recovered After 2½ Years from Jhalawar Temple Theft

A silver crown, Rs 2,000 and an apology letter have been found at the ancient Narsingh temple in Karla, Jhalawar, two and a half years after a robbery.
Police in Jhalawar district have recovered a silver crown that was stolen from the 19th‑century Narsingh temple in Karla village about two and a half years ago. Along with the crown, investigators also found cash amounting to Rs 2,000 and a handwritten note in which the culprit expressed remorse and asked for forgiveness.
The theft, which shocked the local community, remains unsolved despite several leads. Temple authorities had reported the loss of the crown, a valuable religious artifact, shortly after the incident, prompting a police investigation that yielded no arrests until now.
Officials say the recovered items were handed over to the temple priest, who thanked the department for the return but reiterated that the identity of the thief is still unknown. The case highlights ongoing concerns about security at heritage sites in rural Rajasthan.
